Dear Mr. Martin,

Just wanted to say 'Hello' and ask if you could recall your visit in Hamburg, Germany, in the year of 1999? Do you remember being at a river restaurant at the harbour of Hamburg? Do you remember that you received a note from me and also being so kind to write me back one? Yes, I have kept it until now, and will have it kept for as long as I can think and lough.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING SO MANY GREAT MOVIES AND GIVING THIS SAD EARTH AND ITS CREATURE A HEART AND MOMENTS OF LOUGHTER.

ALL THE BEST FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS AND THE NEXT 50 MOVIES!

Yili from Hamburg

Hello! The "what's your favorite SM movie" drop down box did not include my favorite. "Leap of Faith" I enjoy many of your films. The soundtrack and the message and the ensemble of this one are.....well...just are. period. I wish that many more people would enjoy this film, as much as myself. The message that I understand is prime for these times. Yes, there are sheisters and miserable sobs in the world. But, and correct me if I missed it, sometimes there are miracle moments...times when a person has an opportunity to "see" and (with a little nudge from wherever) gets going on their road of their life. Thanks for your laughter, your funny faces, your choice of projects, and your (okay, I gotta do this...) connection to this web site. (without which I wouldn't have had this chance to babble on. ) Take care of yourself. Dolphininct@yahoo.com

I like you. From my somewhat obscure vantage point of one of the "little" people out here you honestly seem to be an excellent example of humanity. You have brought me lots of good laughs over the past 30+ years and often while mowing the lawn, washing dishes, etc one of your observations will occur to me and I will laugh out loud (Howdy Dody replecas) Anyhew, I was running around the net to see if you had a new movie or something and I see these people have you on their site of 365 earth conscious celebrities. I would estimate that your commitment to the environmental cause is probably significantly more substantive than most of the "celebrities" who consume earth's resources at exponential rates as they fly between the coasts from mansion to mansion to make appearances on the Tonight show to talk about how much they care about the environment. I base my conclusion of your sincerety on a comment you made years ago when it was obvious you were making lots of dough and yet you drove a Honda.

I am not a celebrity but I have a sincere reverence for the environment, so much so that I earned degrees and professional registrations to serve in its protection/restoration. Which brings me to what is trying to pass itself off as the "environmental" movement. In many cases I guess they are just naive. In others I honestly believe they represent a central planning mind set reminescent of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. I work in the field evey day and many of the encroachments on personal freedom they propose are nothing less than totalitarian. This beating over the head approach of the "environmental" movement is antagonistic to the goal of convincing people in their hearts to revere the earth.

Hallo Steve Martin,

Dear Mr. Martin,

some years ago, I learned that You once published a song named "King Tut". Currently, I'm preparing my Doctor's thesis in Egyptology and together with a colleague, I intend to publish an research article about the reception of Ancient Egypt by employing means of mass-media, mainly in the 20th century. As far as we know, Your song had something to do with the Tut-ankh-amen exhibition in the USA. Would You be so kind and tell us a little more about Your motivations for that special song? As we are egyptologists (University of Heidelberg, Germany), we can only assure You that we will reward You with a warm and honest "thank you" in our article. Mostly, this is more, than WE get for our work, as nobody seems to give a damn for egyptology...

Thank You for Your kind cooperation, Yours, sincerely, Cand Phil. Tobias Hofmann

Dear Steve Martin!

Hi! MY name is Tony. I came from Melbourne Australia. I don't have any acting experience, neither as acting education. I think that i can make it right to the top to Hollywood, but I need to get reffered to the right person. I speak Russian. I am 19 years old. I don't think there was a point to send you my "sales" resume, because you need an acting one. I am very well presented, and I am sure that I have a lot of acting talent in me. At the age of 16, in my school, i came up with the best communications project about how to go about door to door sales. The project was set in the eastern suburbs in Melbourne. I got a friend of mine to tape me selling telephone service to people. THat project once was completed, was on the projection screen in school huge assembly with about 700 teenagers sitting there. I recieved a lot of applause, and tips for me to make it to Hollywood.

I now live in Illinois for 1 month. I applied for permenant residence and got a work authorization. I am prepared to move out anywhere interstate to work on my acting career, which makes it hard without an acting school.

Thank you Tony Krushevsky

Hi Steve, What the hell are you doing with my name? My name is Stephen Martin and all my friends (all 2 of them) call me Steve Martin and they have been calling me that (amongst other things) since 1951. Since you have become famous my life is a misery.Everybody expects me to be constantly funny which is ,as you will appreciate, very demanding. Do you think you could send me $10/month to employ a scriptwriter or as alternative you could send me 10 jokes/month. Armed with these resources I might be able to fulfill the expectations that people have and honour the reputation of our common name Eagerly awaiting your reply Steve Martin Stephen.Martin@sap.com P.S. If you answer this mail I will be a fan forever P.P.S. The jokes don't need to be that good, I live in Germany!

Hi Steve, I went web browsing to find an email address for you and this is one of the places I found. Not sure if it will get to you, but I'm writing to ask you if you are a fan of Tom Robbins' work?? If so, he has a new book coming out in May. Why I'm writing is to ask you to please consider reading Tom's new book and then do a book review on it, and maybe either submit it to The New York Times or The New Yorker!! I know it sounds like an off-the-wall request, but I just read a Salon write-up on Tom by a person that simply did not have the spirit necessary to appreciate his work. I've read you in both of the above publications and know you have what it takes to do the job.

IF this gets to you and IF you want to contact me via email about it, please write to oneof10k@aol.com.

Hoping my e makes it to you. Lisa

Hi, Steve! I think that you are a brilliant writer and actor. I recently rented a video of one of your comedy performances from the 70's and I loved it. I think that you were the most unique and talented comedian of the 70's. I was especially surprised when you played the banjo. In a way, you remind me alot of Chaplin. I look forward to reading more of your books and seeing your films. You are an inspiration to a new, young screenwriter such as myself. Hugs and kisses, Claire <nightfever@earthlink.net>

Hello.

I've been a big fan for a long time and I not only admire your work as an actor but also as a brilliant writer. I think your all time best piece was the 'dance' routine you did with the late Gilda Radner on SNL so many years ago.

Thanks for your time and making the world a funnier and friendlier place.

Dear my favorite wild and crazy guy in the world. You are my role model. I place you on a marbel pedastal inlayed with gold with a plaque of treated cherry-wood on it which reads "Man, I just really look up to this guy, you know?" I think you are the greatest comedian in the world. You alone created the three best comedy moments ever recorded on film: (1) The scenes in 'L. A. Story' where you talk with the street sign, (2) the scene in 'Roxanne' where you make fun of your nose in twenty (?) different ways, and (3) the "What the Hell is That?" skit with Bill Murray from the old SNL days. I'm taking up too much time. You're probably not even going to read this. I'm just a worthless paeon nothing going for him except for the fact that he is one of the eight people in the world who can spell 'paeon' correctly. And I'm only guessing about the way I spelled it. Such is life. You rock and remeber the name IAN-HEAD, because it's going to be famous some day and I'll want desparately for you to be in one of my movies. Your biggest paeon,

Got to know you (give or take a little bit) last night looking at a BBC story of your life last night. The one where we see you skating, amongst a whole lot of other things, and in which John Cleese and many others tell good things about you. I liked it and I would not bother about a message if it was not so. Subsequently I taped A Leap of Faith which was broadcasted between 1.30 and 3-something AM last night. Also on BBC which we can get here on cable. Here being Rotterdam, Holland. I won't waste more of your time. Have a nice day! Kees Schrevel
